I created Headlamp because of my love for the outdoors.

Growing up, I didn't know what "outdoorsy" meant. Nobody in my family camped or skied, and I wasn't even aware most national parks existed. But in my 20s, I traveled to the Sierras and fell in love with the outdoors. I started with hiking and camping on the weekends and then eventually picked up backpacking, climbing and skiing. Last year, I bought my first kayak. Needless to say, it now feels impossible to imagine my life without the outdoors!

But each time I picked up a new outdoor activity, I was overwhelmed by how difficult (and lonely) it was to learn new skills. Over time, I was lucky to find mentors I trusted who were willing to teach me at my own pace. Without their support, I don't know if I would still love the outdoors as much as I do.

This is why I founded Headlamp. I wanted to create a space where folks who were interested in the outdoors could easily find resources that would get them outdoors quickly and safely. Whether you are a total beginner trying skiing for the first time or an experienced climber looking to refresh technical skills, this platform is for you!
Our Mission
We help you explore the outdoors quickly, safely and confidently.
Being outdoors is fun and healing. We think everyone should have the opportunity to find joy in nature, but many of us lack access to the community and resources to navigate the outdoors confidently.
Headlamp's mission is to break down the access barrier. We connect you with resources at different price points: classes, trips, clinics, instructors and free content. Our goal is get you outside safely and on your own terms.
